Who we are
Communication Design Montréal
Founded by Bruno Gautier, president of Éditions Infopresse, Communication Design Montréal is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote the cultural, economic and social dimensions of those involved in the communication and design milieu. It also seeks to heighten the profile of Québecois and Canadian expertise and design locally, nationally and internationally.
Communication Design Montréal seeks to achieve this mission by encouraging the exchange between stakeholders by way of conferences, exhibits and contests, organized solo or in partnership. By seeking to bring people together, Communication Design Montréal operates in a collaborative spirit rather than a competitive one.
Responding to a call made by the City of Montréal, the first mandate of Communication Design Montréal has been to progress the work undertaken by Commerce Design Montréal, a program initiated in 1995 by Marie-Josée Lacroix, the City of Montréal’s Design Commissioner. It was for this reason that Communication Design Montréal created Créativité Montréal, at once an electronic newsletter, website and a business design contest.
Créativité Montréal launches its weekly electronic newsletter
The creativitemontreal.com website and the electronic newsletter will spotlight the best design in the city. Benefiting from the experience of its editor-in-chief Sylvie Berkowicz, a design journalist, it profiles recent creations in design, architecture and particularly the interior design of businesses. With its search engine, it has become an essential information resource for all those interested in Montréal’s quality of life.
Créativité Montréal announces its business design contest
Picking up the reins from the Commerce Design Montréal contest, Créativité Montréal annually rewards the joint efforts of businesses and designers who seek to improve the quality of life in Montréal. Créativité Montréal awards the best creations of business design and then spotlights them in an extensive promotional campaign.
Créativité Montréal benefits from the expertise of Éditions Infopresse, the producer of the Grafika (graphic design), Lux (photography and illustration), Boomerang (communication et multimedia) and Média (media industry) contests and the consultative services of Louise Goudreault, founder of Commerce Design Montréal.
Contest regulations and registration, presently being reassessed by a committee of experts, will be announced in the spring on the website and in the Créativité Montréal newsletter. The deadline for submissions is projected to be next June and the awards gala will likely occur at the end of October.
