A Branch of Decorating

Nature's calling is strong, and designers are finding their inspiration in the trees to create branch-like and leafy decorative items, a recurring theme in the aisles of the dense forest at Maison&Objet.

Domestic, a specialist in adhesive murals, is diversifying its product line with a small collection of objects including the unusual My Tree, a tree with hands drawn by French graphic artists Ich&Kar.

Similarly, but in a simpler version, Popcorn presented a memo/letter/CD/DVD holder in metal designed by Catherine Mui.

More sophisticated and enchanting is the creation of Maryan Mahdavi. Her tree becomes a serving table and seems to grow on the walls.

French furniture manufacturer Cinna is showing The Forests by Pascal Mourgue, a series of low, laser-cut, metal tables with a mirror-finish stainless steel base that plays with shadows.

Finnish designer Mikko Laakkonen's creation for Covo uses only branches tailored into a clothes tree, on a stand or wall-mounted.

More stylized is Jean-Marie Massaud's design for Serralunga. Available in two sizes (159 cm and 200 cm), this giant flower pot for the garden comes in white, black and red.
