The notion behind the new brasserie Les Enfants Terribles is simple: to carry patrons back to a bygone world, a place filled with nostalgia, where the food and the setting are reminiscent of Quebec ancestry.

In the kitchen, the chef revives the land by recreating traditional cuisine and focuses on meals that were typical of Montreal. The setting also recalls the past, finished with old materials and decorated with furniture from a previous time.

The idea came from the owner's son, Alexandre Brûlé-Brosseau, and was materialised by architect Louis Joseph Papineau. He created the space using barn wood for the walls, all in relief and in straight lines, similar to some of his other designs.

The bar countertop, made of narrow strips of light wood, was originally a bowling alley lane. Typical classroom chairs sit around small revamped black tables, while some Charles and Ray Eames chairs, found in a second-hand store, bring a definite designer's touch to the whole setting, all melding into a sense of harmony and unity.
