Window seats from Perez, light fixtures from Alexandre Brault, a blend of Balinese fabrics and benches, this is the decor that greets you at the new Espace Nomad spa, which has recently moved to the former location of Sergent Recruteur on Saint-Laurent Blvd.

Owner Julie Mercier holds a Bachelor's degree in Design. After four years in cramped quarters, she wanted to set up her spa in a bigger location, but without resolving to what she calls the "motel look" (doors all lined up, tiled floors and waiting room).

Therefore, along with architect David Ludmer, she created a space where the waiting room is referred to as the relaxation room, where contemporary creations blend naturally with traditional items brought back from travels and where the glow of the candles is enhanced by the lighting created by Alexandre Brault. This is all brought together by a pink and warm brown colour scheme, and also by the materials: whether rough on the beams, varnished on the floors or with an elegant openwork design as on the large panel reminiscent of Arabic mushrabeyehs, wood is everywhere.

Spread over two floors, the six treatment rooms are hidden behind heavy felt drapes. Common areas are filled with natural light that shines through the large window facing the street. The lower level is also well-lit, mostly because of a glass panel engraved with the picture of a flower that allows the light to filter through, and created by Impressa Design.
